For the benefit of the uninitiated, Penguin is the code name given to the update of the Google algorithm carried out on April 24, 2012. This 2013, we have Penguin 2.0 instead meaning this is another update of the Google algorithm.
The term Penguin 2.0 was coined by Google Webspam head Matt Cutts when he confirmed that there will be another update of the Google algorithm. However, at this stage no one is 100% sure of what Penguin 2.0 will do though there are some educated guesses floating around.
The first Penguin update was meant to fight the black-hat SEO techniques used at some sites which were designed to give higher page rankings for those sites. Black-hat strategies are often used to fool the algorithms of search engines like Google, hence the update announced by Google in 2012.« Continue »
