I have some really good news and some really bad news. The good news is you can pretty much blog about whatever you want. The bad news is not everything you blog about will get ranked very high in search engines.
With that said, there are few things you need to keep in your mind before you start blogging..
Don’t Blog About To Many Things
I see it happen all the time it’s happened to me. When you first get started blogging you start writing about anything and everything. While it’s okay to do that, what can happen is you end up spreading yourself out to thin and create an uneven blog.
Search engines won’t like that very much. Search engines like to see consistency in your blogging. I recommend only writing about things that you know you can be consistent about.
How To Get Blog Traffic – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
While many people preach the search engines want this and that. I don’t recommend writing to make the search engines happy. The reason is because the people who run the search engines are always changing what they require to get you ranked.
To get ranked in search engines, submit your site to search engine directories, leave a few comments on popular blogs (good comments), and write regularly. 3 times a week is enough.
The magic of blogging happens in the syndication. Share your blog post on google plus, facebook, instagram, linkedin, twitter etc… The truth is if you are writing crap nobody wants to read your post won’t get traction.
Your first goal is to find topics that are already hot topics. Another words, it’s easy to write about stuff that people are already talking about. Don’t write about what you think people are interested in, write about what your interested in.
Set yourself up to get blog traffic.
Test The Buzz Around Your Topics – A lot of Buzz = More Blog Traffic
What I like to do is test out my ideas on YouTube and Instagram first. If those social networks gets me decent results then I will write a blog post about the topic. What’s good about testing the waters this way is it’s a low cost solution before investing time and or money on your idea.
Blogging can really be a fun way to make money online. To often though people make blogs that are dedicated to the affiliate program they are marketing. I don’t recommend doing this either.
Create a blog where the reason people are visiting you is because of your unique insight or expertise. This way you can always make money regardless of affiliate program.
There are countless bloggers out in cyberspace getting paid simply by the let advertisers on their sites. At the end of the day it’s your virtual real estate that is valuable.
Don’t expect to get rich overnight and don’t expect traffic to just start pouring in because your writing blog post. You need to have patience and stay focused on your goal.
The Most Important Thing To Remember About Blog Traffic
Write for people, if after a few months it doesn’t seem like what you are writing about is gaining traction, don’t be afraid to go back to the drawing board. Some of the most successful people in the world failed their first few attempts at success.
The biggest factor in you getting the holy grail of blog traffic is not giving up. Eventually you will find what works for you. Believe me their isn’t a magic pill you can take or a piece of software you can use that will make it easier to get blog traffic.
Any short term gains you make from shortcuts will be short lived. Stay the course and stay true to your personal mission.
