Home Based Internet Marketing – They’re Staring You In The Face. Really!

The elusive Emmitt Nervend, who is often only ...
Image via Wikipedia

Ever read a free report about say, making money online, promising to show you a million and one tricks to working from home and securing financial freedom overnight, riddled with the word “FREE” in roughly 80% of the sales page you opted in from?

Noticed the apt and overly frequent use of “but wait.. there’s more” sounding sentences inside this “free” report that doesn’t disclose the real tactics the author is luring you towards since the very start of this fine work of elusive writing, tactics that do exist, but in the form of a $97 a month subscription to a continuity program somewhere on the other side end of that neatly disguised affiliate link at the bottom of the page? :)

Home Based Internet Marketing – A Street Smart World

Welcome to the street-smart world of home based internet marketing. What you’ve just experienced is a powerful tactic in luring your prospective audience into making a purchase, possibly proceeding to buy into up-sells, and even subscribing to a hidden CPA offer (or just the CPA offer at times, paying the internet marketer anywhere between $5 and $50 per signup.. just the signup!).

It is one of the most powerful tactics you will ever encounter in action, and you will encounter it many, many times, that’s for sure.

You see, Home Based Internet Marketing stems from the foundations of basic direct marketing:

tease, tease, tease,

…

give give give,

…

tease tease tease,

…

don’t give anymore – make them buy.

Yes, that in essence would be a finely tailored version of what home based internet marketing should be set to achieve – insanely high levels of interest that convert to sales using highly optimized sales copy that appeals to more than just the senses of the reader, it appeals to their heart, their mind, their very soul, and most importantly, their greed and utter lust for financial prosperity.

If you’re a newbie, you may have succumbed to this powerful tactic on several occasions and downloaded free reports that didn’t exactly fill your bank account with enough money for that getaway in Hawaii, or teach you anything substantial enough to achieve that target in even a year’s worth of insane effort. What these free reports did do, very successfully I might add, is instill this urge in you to know what it is, overwhelming the irritation you experienced in reading through the entire 30 page report only to come out with more of what you could have fathomed via common sense anyway. These free reports did instill in you the desire to “want in”, on the lifestyle of the internet marketer who presented you with the report, on the money that is there to be made, on the prosperity and financial freedom that could help you quit your job tomorrow and live the life of your dreams, following a “few simple steps”.. Sound familiar? :)

Home Based Internet Marketing – You Just Been Tactified!

Again, Welcome to the world of home based internet marketing. You’ve just been “Tactified”! What you’ve experienced is the art of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the one force that when combined with effective copywriting, is the key to any internet marketer’s success. It is the power to “convince” that differentiates you from the people who try day and night without any hint of success, and puts you in line with the “gurus” you see boasting of their success.

What I’ve just described above, and what you’ve surely experienced on countless occasions before, is one of the most powerful tactics employed by home based internet marketers today. You can rest assured that you won’t ever find them talking about this in any of their reports or courses or sales pages, that would be too big a give-away. Why give away what you could sell? Wouldn’t make any sense to would it?

There are hundreds of other tactics that you won’t hear of in freebies either, it just works against the very principle marketers are out to set, that of convincing prospects into a sale “without” giving away the farm, making prospects “want in”, and paying their way to it.

Remember, the key to success in home based internet marketing, is to make your prospects “want in”, to tease them so much that it becomes more of a risk to NOT buy from you than it is to buy from you. That’s when you know you’ve succeeded, and your entire internet marketing career will change for the better, more successful that you could ever have imagined it to be.

Ok, where’s the affiliate link at the end of the article? LOL, just kidding.

Dude, this article is the most honest, straight to the point, down to earth article I’ve ever read on home based internet marketing. It just exposes a lot of things that are often just in plain site and yet people fail to see because they’re blinded with the desire to just make money.

Kudos to you!

Hey Mike,

Glad you liked and could relate to the post :)

That’s absolutely right! Though it’s a very popular tactic employed by several marketers, and is by no means “not legit”, it has been misused successfully by the scammer crowd to prey on the newbie generation for generations ;)

It is however, undoubtedly, a most powerful list building tactic, considering the fact that nearly 80% of first optins never proceed to confirm a sale. It’s that email address that they leave behind that is “priceless” for future marketing efforts.

Copywriting is an extremely powerful tool in any marketer’s arsenal, provided it is used wisely and to the benefit of those it targets :)

Great feedback, thanks!

I’ve discovered this long ago and have since learned to ignore these tactics. It’s one of the reasons I so dislike Lists. They do all that they can to get you to sign up to one and then you get the endless stream of sales pitches, almost on a daily basis.

These days the best thing to remember is if it sounds too good to be true then it’s probably full of shit.

Loved your post ;)

You are absolutely right most stuff is full of shit :)

I think Ali’s article is really good, it points out what newbies don’t realize, which is many online marketers prey on peoples emotions.

I do believe however that having a list is a very powerful tool if used correctly. Through list building you can really define who your market is.
I always treat list building as a 2 way street. I hope to earn money from my subscribers and my subscribers hope to gain insight and knowledge into the world of online marketing. So I do what I can in educate and inform the people who subscribe to my newsletter and just maybe they may end up liking me and buy something from one of my affiliate links :)

When I first got in the marketing industry I was taught to write a 30-day email follow up series that promoted the company I was in.

What I quickly learned was that its annoying to put someone through that. So I just broadcast to my list now a days when I actually have something I think is valuable to share. No more pre-written emails for me. Except the first introduction email.

Always a pleasure to see bud!

Hey Sire,

Glad you liked the post :)

I think you’re bang on target that most things pitched by scammer marketers * think I just coined a new term :) * are absolutely, undoubtedly, unmistakably, full of crap :)

But having said that, copywriting used in this manner is very effective for building lists, and being on a list isn’t bad at all when it’s the right list, but I agree totally that MOST lists anyone will be on will be a nightmare of email bombardment with crap offer after crap offer, these guys can be quite “persistent” ;)

I would encourage you and anyone else to build a list above all else in this day and age as competition rises by more notches than is comfortable, on a daily basis. Having a compelling squeeze page is a great place to start (provided you work on building the traffic as well).

You can use your list for a variety of purposes (it’s like free marketing since you no longer have to pay to get those leads). These include promoting your own products, being an affiliate for someone else’s products and promoting them for a commission, announcing new projects you may be launching, and many more.

Building a list is the primary reason behind many offers you see online at times, some marketers who are in a hurry know their product isn’t so great at the moment so people probably won’t buy it, but the “email address” will be priceless for future promotions. Sneaky marketing tactics galore, but effective nonetheless ;)

Cheers,
Ali

You’re spot on there Ali – give give give is the way to go.

If a ‘prospect’ lands on a website for the first time they’re very cold – and unlikely to buy anything off you the first time they visit. So webmasters must ensure that the prospect has a reason to come back – and one of the best reasons is great content.

Twitter:
Hey David,

Absolutely correct.

First-time prospects are no different from cold traffic on most occasions. With the ever-increasing trend in scam offers floating around the web today it’s become increasingly challenging for webmasters to compete to retain traffic. As such, having compelling “free” promotional speeches on landing pages tends to achieve better results for building lists for subsequent offers first, and with a few but frequent releases of top quality free materials, prospects are gradually encouraged to eventually “buy in” at some stage.

Cheers for the feedback! :)
