Nowadays, many people are using the internet to promote their companies or products. In many cases, web design companies are contracted to build sites for companies or individuals according to their needs. The following are some factors to consider before selecting any web design company to build your site.

Samples of previous web designs

Before settling for a web design company, you need to see some of the designs they have produced in the past. Usually, web design companies make available portfolios which potential clients can view. This is helpful in deciding if the web design company’s work is up to standard. Therefore, always remember to ask the web design company for samples of their previous work before hiring them to build a site for you. This was a major consideration when planning for the design of my blog which features register.com coupons and webhostingpad discounts.

Web Design – Estimated completion time

From the onset, it is important to know a web design company’s estimated completion time. This will help you know when you can expect your finished work. Let the web design company know when you need a completed product and find out whether they are able to deliver.

Cost of project

It is important to know how much the web design project will cost you. Besides the full cost of the project, you should also ask for a breakdown of all the individual costs.

References

If you want to verify the credibility of the web design company you are dealing with, you could to ask for references. In many cases, the company will provide references that will give an assurance of their professionalism and great finished products. References will help you separate good and bad web designers.

Volume of experience

It might also help to find out about the company’s volume of experience. Companies which have been around for several years are likely to have more experience than recent newcomers.

Customer service

The web design company’s customer service skills should also be considered. Make sure you choose a company which is readily available to listen to what you want. It is advisable to select a company which is more client oriented.

By considering the above mentioned factors, you will be able to choose a company which will design your site in a professional and reasonably priced manner.

You should also look at clients testimonials, and do some searching in complaints.com

Thanks for mentioning complaints.com – a very important site for verifying the credibility of a company.

Don’t forget availability.

One of the biggest problems we had when working with web developers at my old company was that it was difficult to get in touch with some of the companies which instantly dropped them from our list.

Hi Larry,

“Reference” point is really important one as you can make sure about the credibility of a web design company plus you can also check how company deals with their customer and can they complete their work on time.

Nice tips Larry!

References is the most effective way if you want to base the company in there experience. Also it will be good if the company have a reviews in there own website to all there clients.

My best tip would be to take a good look at all of the templates that are available – I always use an off-the-peg solution rather than pay for a bespoke website. There are so many templates available and many ‘webdesigners’ really just slightly modify a template and then resell it anyway.

Another important thing to clarify is whether or not the company will add any content at all. A newbie client recently had the problem whereby he was not aware of the fact that he had to upload the text to his flash, the about us and contact us page, etc. He was not too happy when he had to hire someone to do that as the webdesign company refused.

Great article!

I think web design should be done with minimum supervision, so the artist will have to concentrate about it. After finishing it up (of course, given the references and information) that’s the time to do the alteration depending on client’s need.

I think I’d always try and use someone that has already done work for someone I know and trust. Kind of the same as testimonials I suppose, except you know the person providing the testimonial.

Web designing is a crucial step to get business at ease. It is really vital to get the best web designer to ensure a satisfactory result. The author bio and the volume of experience in doing designing is one of the basic things to consider. You might wanna add up that good web design companies collaborates with client’s ideas to come up with better design.

Wonderful tips Charles :) For me, I like a service that gives you the option to customize existing designs and fit it to your needs. This will make the entire process faster and more affordable.

while hiring any service its better to ask for their professionalism back ground or ask for their previous work regarding designing. but some new web designer are also very creative and great. its better to choose best creative designer it doesn,t matter they are newbies to that field or not because you have to order design according to your needs.
any how these points are great and very useful. thanks for sharing it with me.

Nice post Charles and I agree with what you said up there. I was lucky enough to find a local designer to work for me on a pay per project. He still does all my designing jobs and never had any issue. Sometimes, if I don’t like something, he is the one suggesting the proper changes in first hand without charging any extra buck. No I didn’t contacted him directly it was through Facebook.

Personally, if the web design company didn’t have a propsect package ready for me, I wouldn’t work with them. It’s their job to provide the testimonials, a due date, references and any of their design work. If they want to sell their services, it should all be layed out for the prospective client.

I do agree with all the points you raised above but judging from what you mentioned it looks like you are sort of privileging people who have a solid background and experience in web designing leaving no place for newcomers. Sometimes you might be completely shocked to see the amazingly good work that newbies can be up to because they are new in the field and are more passionate about the job as well as more desperate to create a good name. Also in terms of price as well it is going to be cheaper as opposed to going to a well established company-albeit the fact going to newbies can be quite risky as well.

All you need to check is their past work. All their portfolio. After Reviewing all of the websites they really designed. Then Match your required site Do they can make or not. I think that is enough for Choosing Best Web Design Company which suits you.

When I look for a design company, I make sure to read customer testimonials and do a background check to their projects for a bit. I usually call a rep and ask some probing questions to secure that I’m sending money for the right company.

Testimonials and previous projects.

I can wait for a day or two longer if I’m going to get exactly what I want. Considering that it’s a visual art, I have to fall in love with their previous work in order to let them make my visual make over.

Hi, Charles.
I agree with most of the steps and points you have raised here in the post. For hiring a web design company or an individual, it is important to have the price in mind, but also the background and references. Also, since web design can cost a lot of money, it is important to emphasize that lately it is very “fashionable” to hire freelancing individuals for that matter, who can do the job for less money, but with the same quality as some other company might have charged for its service.

Anyway I usually hire the same 1-2 webdesign companies.
I prefer to build strong long term rlationship, even if I have to pay a little more .
The reliability regarding quality and estimated time is a must for me

For me, the most important qualities that I look for in choosing a web design company have always been first and foremost, fast completion time and good customer service. Experience is also important to me but I like to take chances on start-up companies occasionally as well if I hear a good word about them from others testimonials. The start-up companies’ prices being lower also helps! Good article Charles.

Just my 2 cents on the matter. I think it is important to really take your time and investigate different web designers..

Prices can vary depending on how hungry someone is. A good web design is one that you are happy with. The cost doesn’t matter. Obviously the more complicated the work you want done the more it is going to cost.

I do some of my own graphic work or I ask my friend.

Tip: Network with folks who possess skills you don’t have….

I went to a big name web design company before, paid 25 sitting fee, just to have the chance to be seen.

Long story short.. They never returned my email.. So always do research first.

If a client decides not to go with us for a web design project, the biggest piece of advice that we give is to view at least 5 websites that another provider as built. The biggest indication of a web design firms chance of succeeding on a project, is that they have succeeded on other projects. Doesnt hurt to also call the owners of the 5 websites to discuss what the web designer was like to work with.
