Internet Marketing Mistake

Just about every newbie makes this internet marketing flaw. They decide they want to make money online. Then they end up buying every product, program, gimmick on the market. And then wonder why they aren’t making any money. Don’t become a victim of this. If you want to make money online you need to start where everyone else does.  The very first thing you must decide to do is become a WEBMASTER. That’s right, every single successful marketer online is a webmaster.

What is a webmaster ? Wikipedia defines webmaster as :

A webmaster is a person responsible for designing, developing, marketing, or maintaining a Web site. The webmaster of a Web site may also be called a system administrator, the author of a site, or the Web site administrator.

Forget about affiliate marketing or any type of marketing online, you first must become the webmaster. Unless of course you have a ton of money to spend and can outsource everything. I consider myself a intermediate webmaster. I know enough to get me by. It has taken me a few years to get this far in my quest for knowledge.

If I would have focused on developing my webmaster skills first, I could have saved myself thousands of dollars.

So if you really think you are going to have a career in online marketing , avoid the biggest internet marketing flaw of them all and learn how to build your own websites. Once you have this skill everything else becomes very easy. After all its as simple as finding a demand and filling it. Making video’s also helps

Until my next rant

Honestly, I don’t know if I agree. It’s a sound concept, but it’s not a necessity to know a bunch of stuff about how to manage a website, whether you outsource or not.

Some basic knowledge of things like FTP and things like that would be all that’s required, at least that’s what it’s like for me.

I don’t NEED to know half of what I know now about ‘webmastering’… I know people who make thousands a week, who don’t even own a website.

So well, it’s a good point, but I don’t agree with you, frankly because I have experienced it not to be true.

Do you think it’s a good idea to start blogging through a site to get used to the internet world before you try and take on the task of building your own site? I want to start, but am unfamiliar and want to get used to it before I dedicate my time

Hi Elle,

I have to say that it is a great idea to start blogging. If you want to be able to compete you are going to need to use tools that your competition is using.

Namely a blog. Wordpress isn’t as difficult to use as some people would lead you to believe.

If you are a total newbie you can be blogging like a pro in about 3 months or sooner. You will need to take that three months though and really study and learn..

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi,I agree on your view that you need to be able to set up a website. And word press blogs i have found to be the easiest to configure and set up.
To set up a blog and learn the things you need to know about ftp, domains, hosting and so on is like riding a bike. When you have learned it
you do not forget it. Word press blogs are easier to add new functionality to.
And there are popping up new plug ins all the time.
I was very skeptical to word press because i started with Xsite-pro sites.
But now i would never go back. Don’t be afraid of word press. It is easier than most believe.

I really think that this is sound advice. Know how to work code will really help you in the long run. I would also suggest submitting the site to google webmaster tools and then you can get some great reports on what is going well and what is wrong with you site. Missing pages (404s) are a key factor if you are getting too many then Google will think there is an issue with the website.
