Seo Causing Havoc For Webmasters
A lot of buzz on the internet lately about what is good seo practice and what isn’t. This article is going to talk about some things you should be doing and things you should definitely stay away from. It use to be really easy to get ranked high in search engines there use to be many strategies that worked, some of them even worked for me .
This year though expect to see even more changes to the way search engines give you rank. The Panda & Penguin updates literally destroyed web rankings for thousands of websites. On the + side of things those updates helped webmasters who actually take pride in their work.
Basically in simplest terms those updates helped eliminate crappy websites and spammy seo practices. There was a time when when if you had a lot of pages on on your website that it would be seen as a quality site.
Not anymore quality trumps quantity – This means re-spinning articles won’t be as effective as it once was. Article directories no longer hold the juice they once had. This also means those 25,000 plr articles you bought for $12 are junk. The best content is unique content. Curating content is still an effective way to rankings (If done right). Also consider paying someone to write for your blog. Prices vary but good articles are written for about $20 a pop.
Social Media sites playing a bigger role – It’s not good enough to just set up profiles and spam your links in social media sites. It use to work for a short time. You know what they say though ” it only takes 1 bad apple to ruin the bunch“. Because greedy selfish people simply spammed the hell out of social media sites, search engines had to go on the offensive. Now to get any traction you need to engage and interact in social sites.
Link building is still good but – Not the way it was done. In the past you would just go to a bazillion blogs and start leaving comments with anchor text. These are becoming more an more worthless. Best way to get back links is to get people to give you 1 way links back to your site. This can be tricky as people don’t really like to share. The best way to get backlinks is to write content or do videos that is share worthy. You will find conflicting information on this subject because there are people out there that make good money charging people for link building services..
While some services are worth the cost like paying someone to create a slideshare presentation for you, many of the blog commenting services are rubbish and won’t give you more juice. Besides the best way to get traffic from blog commenting is to actually participate in the discussion. To often you pay for someone to go around and comment for you, and their comments sucks. So nobody engages with them all in all it just makes your site look bad.
If it sounds like seo in 2013 is going to take more work on your part, you would be right. You really have 2 options in 2013
1. Spend an insane amount of money paying people who are in the trenches learning all the new seo strategies.
2. Roll up your sleeves and start re-thinking your seo strategy
Aged Domains Still Rule – I would like to think it’s my genius seo skills that keeps this blog getting traffic. While certainly its from my seo strategies that I get traffic I still know that a big part of me getting indexed and getting traffic on this site comes down to simply having this domain for 6 years and consistently working it.
Important things to consider in 2013.
- 1. Transparency is ultra important, don’t hide behind your computer monitor and keyboard and expect people to trust you. Be more open about who you are and what you are doing.
- 2. New domains will get crushed by older domains – simply put if you can afford to buy a used aged domain, that is a better choice than buying a new one. Though if you have an original idea or product it is a good idea to buy your unique brand name
- 3. Don’t look for shortcuts, focus on coming up with informative , original , engaging content.
The internet is a wonder of our modern age. Information can flow freely from continent to continent. Don’t get caught up with all this seo hoopla. Rather focus on re-inventing yourself.
What I mean by this is: First find what you are passionate about. Next figure out who your “true target market is”. To know who that is you first have to be your true self. Unless people know who you are , you will never know who your target market is. The good news is your target market will be uniquely yours
When I first started marketing on the internet way back when, I tried everything the guru’s said do. I spent thousands upon thousands of dollars and what happened was I fell flat on my face because I was trying to be someone I wasn’t.
Know this – Whatever your story is, where ever you are in life someone out their in cyber space can relate to your story. This my friends is the real power of the internet.
To wrap up this post on seo in 2013
The fastest way to get your story out to the masses is to use aged domains in your marketing. Empower network’s blogging platform gives you a place where you can just write from your heart and you will be heard.
Not by the millions of people online, rather by the people that identify with YOU.. These are the people that will buy from you. You don’t need thousands of people in your business, 100 like minded people would be fine –> Even just 50.
The question is do you believe you can find 50 people on this planet that can identify with you?
If so, what are you waiting for? Isn’t it time you stop earning 30% tiny commissions? Doesn’t 100% commissions sound better to you?
Both Larry Rivera and Jamie Pelaez work from home full-time as honored independent affiliates of Empower Network. Like with most things, while it works for them, they cannot predict your dedication and what efforts you may or may not put in and therefore cannot guarantee your results.
