Social Networking Sites: How Do I Get Traffic?

Someone tells you to join a social networking site to get traffic to your website, you are also told that attraction marketing works great in social networking sites. If this is the case, than why isn’t it working for you?

Social networks have become very popular among marketers. That is because dollar for dollar it is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get traffic to your website.  I have been doing a bunch of research lately and have been watching what actually goes on in these social networks and I have seen a disturbing trend.  With all the good information online how to be a good social marketer many people are still doing it wrong.

Steps To Setup Your Social Networking Empire

If you are a total newbie online start with step 1.

Step 1. Join Swom , FaceBook and Twitter. You can join all three for free.  It is through these three networks that you will be able to build a huge following quickly. If you have no followers right now that’s okay you are going to have to work hard for the next 3 months to gain followers.

This is where many people go wrong, they start to try and promote their businesses without having a following. You should spend the next 3 months just focusing your efforts on adding more and more contacts.

Next you need a story! There is a popular term coined called “My Story Marketing” , the best way to tell your story is through blogging.  For this post I am not going to get into which blogging plate form to use *cough WordPress. The reality is you can use any blogging plate form, if you just starting out use blogger, it’s very newbie friendly.

While you are spending most of your time adding contacts to your social networks, start blogging about you. Start telling people why you are marketing online. Start sharing your story…

After you have some post on your blog like 15 or 20

Now you can start thinking about starting your social networking campaign.  We are always in a rush, notice I am ending this post with only 1 step. Really stop for a moment clear your mind and ask yourself this question.

Do you want to get tons of free traffic? It is very easy to get caught up with information overload.  I won’t lie to you it will be a lot of work to just get lots of contacts and get your blog set up.  There is certainly a ton of information on how to effectively use social networking sites online.  Focus 100% of your effort right now on just building up your following and your blog.

Social proof is a good thing. It will help you make more sales. While you are building your blog and adding contacts consider making some youtube videos of yourself.  Blogging+video compliments social marketing and it is the best way to apply attraction marketing principles.  The best part of social marketing is the fact that you can do it entirely for free.  Think about it!
