So I have an interesting story for you today about changing your perspective, A little while back I talked about losing but not losing the lesson. Today I want to talk about that in application in this case my own applied application.
One of my good friends couldn’t wrap his mind around the idea of blogging. He said things to me like:
Larry, blogging? Nobody wants to blog….
I said bro, I love blogging lots of people love to blog, just because you don’t doesn’t mean other people don’t want to. My friend does love making money though. So he got involved with me in my business. Simply did what I asked him to do and he started getting people in his business that loves to blog.
He couldn’t believe it, he recently said:
Larry! Thanks for helping me change my stinking thinking…
Recently another really good friend introduced me to a wordpress plugin that I had already looked at before and dismissed it. Simply because I am the type of person that would rather spend money than spend time.
For me the less steps to get something the better. The best example I can give you is this:
I am the type of person that when I was a young boy I would open up the cereal box just to get to the prize. I didn’t want to eat the cereal which really annoyed my mom. I just wanted to get to the prize.
Well after my friend explained her point of view…
…I stopped for a moment and thought about it
She was right, there are lot’s of people who would love the benefits of said plugin. Instead of getting trapped in my own stinking thinking I quickly changed my perspective on the matter…
Why If Your Not Changing Your Perspective You Are Doomed To Failure
If you can only see life through your eyes and your stubborn to the point where changing your perspective is not an option, you will miss out on learning new things. More important than that, in order to effectively help other people you first have to see things through their eyes and not yours.
I think sometimes big “guru” type marketers forget what it’s like to really have no money to spend on marketing. Or they selectively forget how hard it can be to just upload an image to the right size.
I believe it’s important to not lose sight of who you are , where you came from and where you are going. It’s important to not pre – judge people or things. Changing your perspective is a must to thrive in today’s online marketing environment.
…Another way to say it is:
“Don’t get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water.”
― Bruce Lee
A Simple Way To Changing Your Perspective
Imagination is a powerful thing. You can imagine yourself to riches beyond your wildest dreams. Walt Disney had imagineers, they imagined all sorts of wonderful things that people enjoy in many cases for generations.
You simply have to imagine yourself in the other persons shoes, step back and see what it’s like to be them. In this way you can start seeing their perspective and consequently you will also be able impart your wisdom on them.
Because I am able to look through someones eyes and see and feel what they feel in my imagination, I can better understand them and their circumstances. It is from that point that I am able to best serve them…
Are you stuck in your way of thinking? I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter 🙂
