How To Create Credibility For Your Work At Home Business

by admin on July 8, 2010

I am always saying the most important thing you can start doing for your business is laying a good foundation. Sadly if I could start over I would do things 110% different.

For starters I would have focused more on building a targeted following.  Thank goodness you can always start over.  Let’s start with things you can do that cost little to no money but can really get the traffic flowing which means more$$ in your pocket.Social Networking is all the rave, the buzz around it is that it can make you millions.. Well I don’t know about that but you can certainly use it to get your message to go viral and also to get a ton of free prospects.

What is really happening is this:

Once you connect with someone, what you write shows up on someone else’s wall or dashboard. What this means is that everyone your new friend knows is going to see what you are writing. This is why it is critical NOT to scare anyone away by self-promoting with out adding value.

You know the people I am talking about. Those rascals that do nothing all day but promote , promote and just incase you missed their last 10 messages promote some more. This is no way to make friends. It is actually rather annoying.

Your goal is to use this medium as a way to grab someones interest so they start wanting to learn more about you. This is where a blog  becomes real handy. You absolutely want to send all the people that find you interesting to your blog. You can do a lot on a blog to capture the persons information and start building a list.

Building a list is where your real power will come into play.

You are going to use the power of your targeted list to help you further build credibility for your work at home business.  I need to stress that if you use places like FaceBook and Twitter correctly you will be getting targeted traffic to your blog and if you have a opt in box you can capture your potential subscribers information.

Once you have the person on your list , the first thing you want to do is introduce yourself and invite them to join the other social networks you are involved with.

For Example:

You meet John and John has 400 friends on Facebook and 100 friends on twitter. If you do a good job of making a friend you will be able to quickly find people that may be interested in what you are doing. If you are providing good content you can start attracting johns followers to you.

You might be thinking, well Larry I don’t want people to steal my followers… Don’t worry about that, if you do everything correctly people will look forward to helping you, because you are helping them.

To wrap this up I want to talk a little about YouTube

Youtube can send you a ton of traffic but they could care less until you prove to them what you just uploaded is worthy of sharing.

The way YouTube  decides if your video is good or not is based on the buzz around the video. Another words people leaving comments and giving you thumbs up is the way to get YouTube to take notice.

This is where having a targeted list comes in handy. It is with your list that you are able to get people to leave comments on your videos and give you thumbs up etc.. Also it is the same people that will leave comments on your wall and will spur other people to leave their opinions also.

Also it is always good to return the favor. If someone on your list ask you to take a look at their video or read their blog post always try and return the favor.

If you enjoyed this article leave me a comment I would love to hear from you.

Great post Larry. Building your brand with a list (to begin with at least) is a good way to quickly get your videos and posts promoted on the social network. Thanks for sharing with us.

Good stuff here, but of course I’m one of those people who are loathe to create mailing lists for anything other than my newsletter for my business. It probably works wonders, but the other issue I have is that I don’t really have anything to promote in that fashion, so the idea of collecting email addresses is escaping me. Maybe one day when I figure out what I might really want to promote I’ll go that route.

Then again, you DO have that big pop-up window which came up in the middle of my writing this comment. lol

Well, I figure I know how many people are interested in what I’m doing via both Google Analytics and how many people subscribe to my RSS feeds. To me, I’d want a list if I were selling things or, as I said, my newsletter. Other than that, a list for the sake of having a list just doesn’t thrill me.
