With the advent of the “smartphone”, logic would lead us to believe that they were created to help people do things in a more efficient, effective — smarter—way. Hmmmm, if only that were true. For instance, even against all that information, advice and warnings out there, texting while driving has increased exponentially. The results are a high number of vehicle accidents, and unfortunately deaths.
It’s a sad statement that users of these smartphones are increasingly doing dumb things with these devices. It doesn’t matter they are Apple iPhones, T-Mobile cellphones or some other smartphone, users are doing truly dumb things with them.
Let’s take a look at some of those “dumb” things. This is certainly not a complete list—not even close. You’ll probably even have some of your own favorites.
Dropping it in the Toilet/Tub
Because we’ve become increasingly dependent on these devices to keep us connected, we seem to be taking them everywhere — yes, everywhere. And, because of this, more and more incidents of that device being dropped into the toilet and/or bath are increasing. It’s not cheap to replace a drowned smartphone, so doesn’t it make sense to just leave it outside the bathroom for those few minutes?
Texting/Dialing While Drunk
Put the phone down, hide it, put it away or whatever when you are in an inebriated state. Nothing is worse than waking up in the morning and wondering if you really did drunk-dial your old flame and extend a marriage proposal. Alternatively, what about finally telling your crush that you will love them forever and they don’t even know you exist? Save yourself from remorse and embarrassment—put it away when the cocktails come out.
Sending “Inappropriate” Photos
Simply put, just don’t do it. Why even think about it in the first place? Now with the speed of cell technology, that photo of your nude self or being passed out at a party can be sent to countless others. Do you really want to risk that getting out? What if you send it to the wrong person? Your mom or your boss? Not a good thing!
The “Geico” Syndrome
Do you really think that fake drinking champagne, and wearing virtual moustaches is smart? If you couldn’t do it before without the silly apps, why do it now? There are many other apps on smartphones that are just as fun and don’t make you look silly.
Texting When You Should Call
It’s so easy to just send a quick text these days; however, certain situations call for a real-person call. These include the obvious: break ups and proposals. However, this also extends to other situations such as condolences and other situations where the cold, hard letters on a screen just don’t cut it.
So, put the phone down if you find yourself wanting to do any of these things. You’ll thank yourself later!

Certainly, Such dumb things are increasing very fast. Since the introduction of smartphones people actually don’t have time for their family and friends. You can notice many people around you who are always busy with their smartphones in any way.
Yes Asma, i am agree with you about issue, think you are right. Thanks
haha great post! Made me laugh. People sure do love to do stupid things with their phones and the inappropriate photos one is the most mind-blowing to me. Like, in this day and age, why would you send photos of yourself to people that you can’t always trust? Especially when it happens to celebrities, I’m just floored. Obviously they’re going to leak! Think about things before you do them!
It’s just so funny because I myself have done many stupid things with my smartphone. I’ve done so much that I might even be able to add a couple of them to this article. Haha! 😀 Thanks for this post, 🙂
The first dumb thing you have posted is quit similar to the one my friend did….hahaha…:)
Now on some serious note i would like to say that, smartphones have captured our lives and creating gaps between the relationships.Although the technology was good but we are getting addicted to them so deeply that we hardly find time for ourselves,we are slowly becoming slaves of these fast growing gadgets and the moment we will gain conciousness we will find nowhere except all alone with just these gadgets.Being dumb makes us laugh sometimes but don’t get dumber and get addicted to it.
haha i like the first point …….and really these dumb people are in large number 🙂
i do all these things regularly and trust me i do a list of 100 such activities :0
