Who’s Internet Marketing Strategies Are You Using?
First and foremost I think it is important to mention that there are many internet marketing strategies that are totally bogus.
For instance – I won’t name names because that is just rude. But the folks I am talking about should be ashamed of themselves for shoveling the crap they do to the uninformed.
One of the internet marketing strategies I learned is how to trick places like YouTube into believing my video isn’t duplicate content by changing the text in the video and the name of the file. This particular strategy has been taught by several big name network marketing guru’s.
The only problem is the technique is a total black hat technique and violates the terms of service of youtube. These same people have gotten their accounts banned. Yet information still circulates online how to use this technique.
In fact many of the big name guru’s made their initial fortunes by cheating the system or bending the rules so to speak. I don’t hold it against them, it was savvy marketing at the time. However, most of us can’t use their trickery to build our businesses. The saying “one rotten apple ruins it for the bunch” is true.
Internet Marketing Strategies That Are Battle Tested
There is no replacing quality content. That became very clear to me after I created my martial arts YouTube Channel. I have over 1200 subscribers and some of my video’s have gotten tens of thousands of views.
The Ironic part is I have done just about zero promotion all the traffic that the channels pull is totally organic. I have several youtube channels that deal with home business and network marketing. My home business channels don’t even compare when it comes to pulling in new readers. On all my channels, I don’t rely on cheap tricks to get subscribers or views.
The reason why my martial arts niche stuff is so much more popular than my internet network marketing stuff is simply because there is less competition for keywords.
So when you are thinking about good internet marketing strategies, keep in mind that if you are looking for free quality traffic it will come down to you finding and using the right keywords.
Internet Marketing Strategies – Keywords Are Everything
You don’t need to have a high page rank, you literally can start getting indexed for a brand new blog within hours of setting it up.
Your initial goal is to get web spiders to come visit your blog, simply going to a pagerank 2,3,4 etc site will get you indexed quickly with google. If you want to get things happening faster create a linkwheel.
Updated: October 18th,2011 = I just recently learned that if you do nothing and you seo your site correctly. Google will come index you automatically. Using a linkwheels and commenting on blogs can help you get higher search engine rankings.
Good internet marketing strategies are ones that are white hat and will yield you results for years to come. Don’t waste your precious time doing things that are remotely considered black hat. You may get more traffic, you may even make more money for the time being.
But it is in no way a long term ethical solution. Furthermore, what happens when the trick doesn’t work anymore? Are you going to tell the person that just joined your business you got them from a marketing strategy that doesn’t work anymore?
I have heard folks on youtube say things like I am going to show you how to get thousands of people watching your videos joining your business etc..
The only trick they have up their sleeve is to fool search engines that their content isn’t duplicate and spam their descriptions.
—————————————————————
Spammy Description: make money, more money, lots of money, tons of money, crazy insane amounts of money etc..
—————————————————————
They fool people into believing they are going to do a review of something they aren’t even involved with. My point is this. If you are involved with something that people are actually interested in and you are providing real value it is easy to get ranked and make money.
The problem is when you have nothing of real value to offer anyone and you start trying to trick people into believing you are something you are not.
Among the best internet marketing strategies I have seen are strategies that are value driven for the consumer.
For the record, trying to make money in the internet home business niche is by far the hardest because it has the most competition. On the flip side of that if you can make money in this industry it is a piece of cake to make money in less competitive markets.
Believe it or not. You can’t go to college to learn how to be a good online marketer. There are no classes that will teach you how to be the elite.
The best place to learn is in the trenches in our internet network marketing industry. I say that because it is here where you fuse the offline with the online. It is here that you learn to brand yourself as an authority.
Take the knowledge you gain from your internet network marketing and start applying your own creative internet marketing strategies.

I couldn’t agree with you more.
There is far too much crap information floating around passed off as legitimate tactics even though they are clearly black hat for those that understand the technical side, best practices and policies of the networks they’re going after.
My approach has always been to let things grow naturally; keep my head down, work on big projects and come back to report which lets me share a story instead of just gaming people on content.
Hi Murray, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I agree that letting things happen naturally is the best way 🙂
Hi Larry,
I always know and believe that only quality matters, searchers always look for quality and informative things. I have one question here, I belong to travel niche and looking to start my youtube channel for video marketing purpose.. I’m confused how would I get quality videos that really people enjoy to watch it and Do I need to create it myself (manually) can’t I publish a good entertaining video related to my niche of someone else?
Hi Aaron, it is actually against YouTube t.o.s to upload duplicate content. Though I have been guilty in the past of doing that. I think some of it comes down to if you offend anyone.
Do yourself a favor from the beginning and don’t upload dup content. 🙂
Thats very much true and I am totally agree with you and I am strictly against of all such black hat techniques which folks are applying in their marketing strategies. Yes at first it proves beneficial but sonner or later they are caught and all their work hard have deadly end.
So better to work as per rules and regulation by using genunie techniques. I am doing this from last many year and it works for me everytime.
Your Welcome 🙂
In my opinion there is no pre-defined strategies for Internet Marketing. But their is some do’s & dont’s that you need to follow. Otherwise it is totally unstable in nature. You need to improvise yourself to stay in this competition.
The nature of art demands that you improvise, thanks for sharing…
It seems that Keywords are an important factor no matter what you are doing on the internet, whether it’s promoting a blog post or a youtube video.
I’ve never bothered trying to fool Google or anyone else. That may work for a while but sooner or later you’re going to get caught out.
Hey Sire, good to hear from you. It has been my experience that just about everything online comes down to keywords and phrases.
You hit the nail on the head with this article. There’s no guaranteed shortcut to getting traffic. Even the blackhat tactics stand a good chance of getting accounts banned. What you need to do is create good content. Then go out and create other good content to promote your website or blog through writing articles, blog and forum commenting etc… Then you’ll need persistence and patience while your business matures.
Hi Richard, content is king. A mistake that I see some new bloggers make, is focus on writing promotional articles.
While it is a good idea to do those types of articles. It is also important to do articles specifically with the goal of providing good value driven content.
It’s true, there are so many bogus techniques that just litter the internet with junk. If you don’t have original value to add, you don’t have any value at all and you should rethink your offer entirely.
Hi Ana, thanks for dropping in 🙂
Keywords is the best important factor in the internet..I agree that a lot who are internet is bogus..
Hi karen,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
It is very true that there are a number of crap internet marketing strategies hanging around the web. I came across many videos that had changed their names to avoid being discovered. This is just a shortcut and what is the use if the viewer cannot find your video with the right keywords. It is better to put some original video that delivers information.

Based on my personal experience, it is very true that many internet marketing strategies end up to be bogus. For how many years of venturing into online business, I still would stick to the basics. A well-written, good-quality and unique content stuffed with appropriate keywords is still the best strategy ever!
Hey Spatch!
I agree whole heartily
Hi Larry,
Its true we sometimes neglect some techniques which are extremely beneficial and are capable of direct traffic generation.
Thanks Arvind
Hey, Really nice Post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having a Unique title and a content too!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward for more post like these!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Peter
The only thing worse than a bogus IM technique is someone that tries to SELL the technique!
I think sticking to the basics is the best course of action – no need to get too flashy about it. Follow a few trusted internet marketers and get some experience – that’s the best route in my opinion
OMG! Sandip,
You said it bud.. I can’t even tell you how many products I have bought that are like that…
Larry,
I gotta agree with you. There are so many people out there who are pushing “get rich quick” with sleazy method it is sickening. The worst part is it just doesn’t work these days.
While some of these methods may get that initial surge in sales these things always end badly.
The ONLY way to get ahead is to try to build something of value that lasts. Anything else is just peeing in the wind.
Steve
Hey Steve,
Right! In the end you always get back what you put into something.
Fake strategies which are known as black marketing strategies are foolish to use and i am very strict for avoiding that.
besides these strategies keywords are important to go with. thanks for this great write up.
Hi Reeha, nice to hear from you again 🙂
I would agree with you. Right and competent keywords plus content is a good tandem to succeed. Thanks.
Hi Dhanna, thanks for commenting…
Good point. All those black hat techniques will affect the visitors as well and waste their time. Like you said, there will come a day when the black hat strategy doesn’t work anymore and then all the work you’ve done up to that day might be for nothing.
A couple of years ago I tried cloaking (I promise, this was a long time ago! 😉 and I realized that it wasn’t really a short-cut. It required just as much work as white hat techniques! So why not put all your effort into white hat to begin with?
Hi Elin, what kind of cloaking do you mean? Affiliate link cloaking or actual domain cloaking?
I know some folks are taught to forward their domain names. GDI affiliates are big on this.
The problem with actually forwarding your domain name directly is that your domain gets seen as a duplicate site and definitely end up getting sandboxed by google. Just saying… In case anyone was interested 🙂
You are right though, there have been some “black hat” things I did in the past, though to my credit at the time I didn’t know they were black hat.
You are better off doing it right the first time because maybe not today or even tomorrow you will get caught. But one day for sure…..
I’m talking about scripts that create multiple pages that look like they have real content on them to the search engine while the visitor ends up on a real site. For several reasons this method is not recommended (except for the fact that it’s wrong from an ethical point of view). Having hundreds of pages indexed won’t help you anymore if you don’t have enough links to your content. And if you’re going to get links, then you might as well put that effort into white hat techniques. 😉
Doh! 🙂 I know what you are talking about though , I know I had a bunch of different scripts, I experimented with some. I think one was called traffic spider. I agree with you whole heartily.
“And if you’re going to get links, then you might as well put that effort into white hat techniques.”
Hey Samuel,
Some folks get caught up and have the want it now mentality.
While many marketers prey on that kinda of thing. In the
end it’s fickle at best… 🙂
Some of the stuff that some marketing gurus teach sometimes is quite fraudulent for sure. Hopefully that sort of practice is nipped in the bud soon. As far as strategies regarding keywords, I agree it can play a big role. In fact, I struggled quite a bit trying to find a keyword that doesn’t have overwhelming competition but at the same time isn’t so niche that there is hardly any interest.
-Jean
Howdy Jean!
I feel your pain. It can be painstaking to find just the right keywords.. Using tools like word tracker, google keyword tool and scribed just to name a few can really help in the research process.
A trick I like doing is running searches off of other domains..
For example find a website that is in your niche and ranked high. Go to alexis and see what other keywords they are ranking for.
Then go to google keyword tool and see what other variations of the keywords google comes up with.
That is a quick way to find some relevant keywords you may be able to make long tail keyword phrases from.
Hi Larry! Thanks a lot for that tip. It does make sense to go see what keywords your main competition uses. I will try it out.
-Jean
I completely agree that there’s a lot of internet marketing strategies nowadays, making promises that with in a short span of time you will double or triple your investment and then you will find out the it’s bogus. That’s why we have to be very careful to whom we should asked for advise or seek help for your business.
Excellent article!!
Anyway,I’m not sure regarding how link wheel works after Panda Update.
Many sites using this tecnique wer penalized
From the looks at it, people who get penalized are people who are trying to beat the system. Even if you are making link wheels you should be providing real value on everything you do, if you do that you shouldn’t have any problems.
Content all the way. But content is not just about creating it. If you paint the most brilliant picture, nobody will see it if you don’t bring along a mega phone. On the other hand, if you have the loudest megaphone, what’s the point if your picture looks like finger painting?
Anybody who has elementary education went to school with kids who were hard working and learning, and those who copied all their work and didn’t do anything.
We all know what happened to those kids. Copicats got good grades if they managed to pull their trick, but on the long run, they learned (gained) nothing.
Same goes with the black hat tricks.
Your article reminds me when I insert certain codes to my blog, it is said autoposting. The codes can generate automatic posts in accordance with keywords searched. For months they haven’t had impact on my blog’s traffic but suddenly Google sent me hundreds of traffic and increased day by day until it reached more than 2k perday just within 15 days. But it stopped there as Google finally banned my blog. In fact, I don’t realize that they were illegal codes because when I inserted them, I was still new in blogging and I didn’t know. Right now I start building new “white” blog for long run.
Well done Larry 🙂
I agree with you that only true and tested marketing strategies will work in the long term not the latest tricks to game the system.
I’ve learned this myself some times ago when I tried many different techniques to drive traffic back to my site but none of them worked as advertised. I then came back to the age-old but very effective SEO, in which I know what to do and what I can expect from it.
Of course, SEO itself contains tons of “blackhat” tricks but I stay away from them all the times because, you know it, they won’t work for long!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts man, have a nice day!
Duy.
Thanks Duy! 🙂
Hi Larry,
I think as an SEO agent, it’s important to be aware of all the tactics used in SEO (both white hat and black hat), so that you can at least give your customers the pro’s and con’s of each (and ultimately the choice).
As someone that promotes white hat, I think the recent Panda update is of great benefit to white hat SEO agents and that with quality content, streamlined websites and targeted, efficient link-building you can drive a site into the higher page rankings in the SERPs.
Thanks for posting and allowing me to share my thoughts !
Hi Mark, I agree with you I think recent panda updates are good for white hat techniques..

“Believe it or not. You can’t go to college to learn how to be a good online marketer. There are no classes that will teach you how to be the elite.”
Hmm, that’s very interesting – and very true too – there can’t be many subject that the universities haven’t jumped on and offered a degree course in. (sorry to end that sentence with a preposition). I guess anyone who really knows what they’re doing in IM, is out there doing it, rather than teaching it for a salary at an academic institution. There are marketing courses, of course, but all that theory doesn’t mean diddly squat when it comes to getting out there on the internet.
What we do have, of course, is hundred and hundreds of bogus, worthless so-called courses offering to make you millions via some newly devised loophole exploit.
I’l love to spend three years at Oxford and come out with a first in Internet Marketing! My Mom would be so proud!
Hi Jane, thanks for commenting..
Personally I buy all types of online educational courses. There are a crazy amount of bogus programs out there, I know I have bought many of them.
Fortunately and unfortunately I tend to buy just about everything.. I only promote things though that I have found real world value.
I think promoting stuff without buying is wrong…
