Everyone is running after Google while there is a silent revolution taking place in the underbelly of search. Bing is slowly gaining search space eating into the Google pie. According to the latest research, Bing has gained 3% share of the search market and  currently consists of 30% overall. All this while Google has lost 3% and is 67% of search market, while Yahoo and rest share the rest. But that’s not all. Bing has become attractive for other reasons as well. I am talking about the American market, not global share of the market.
Americans have started using Bing as their preferred search engine
According to latest reports the shift to Bing is seen more in American geography. It is no secret that United States is the biggest market and if folks out there want to Bing you better be ready to Bing back. You just cannot underestimate the power of American markets. There are some more interesting facts which I dug out on this issue. It seems that Google ignored D-day on June 6, which to some patriotic Americans is  hugely insensitive. To cap it all, Google even forget Veteran’s Day, while Bing celebrated it in a big way. Is it any wonder that Americans have shifted to Bing?
Bing is better than Google
But patriotism apart, Bing seems to be better in other ways too. Heavy duty users of Search have reported that Bing results are displayed faster and the transition is smoother.  The look and feel of Bing is better and it’s easy on the eye. Bing also displays bigger and more attractive video. Microsoft is trying very hard to grab eyeballs with its new IE9. I have tried Bing on IE9 and boy does it soar. Search results apart, which experts know is almost the same as Google, Bing is more satisfying. Look at the irony of things. Internet explorer held 86% of browser market in 2002 which is down to 23% in June 2011. It’s exactly the reverse in case of search. Google had almost 85% of search market which is down to 67% in US. Obviously there is no correlation between browser and search market share.
There are strong rumors that Microsoft is trying to buy Baidu, which is the biggest search engine in China. This will turn the search market upside down. With Bing gaining ground in America and Baidu the top search engine in the biggest market, China, enterprises would do well to get on to the Bing bandwagon. If I recall correctly, Google has had a stormy relations with China in the past and unlikely to gain favors with the Reds.
Conclusion
It’s time search engine experts had a relook at their Bing strategy. Most of us tend to ignore Bing altogether, though there is very little we have to do to get into it. Your keyword strategy remains the same. Essentially every search engines works on similar lines. By Binging you can attract more eyeballs than from Google alone.

You are right in this concern.
As I have also heard lot about bing gaining POPULARITY as many are churn to it.
It is true that google is underestimating other search engine but bing is taking this as benefit and working secretly and trying to moving slowly ahead from google.
I am sure that if google will take this as granted than it will proves dangerous in FUTURE when bing emerge as a NEW SEARCH ENGINE.
I for one do believe that Bing will continue this trend and continue to increase their share in the search market. Their commercials are really catching the eyes of people in my opinion. Bing is actively advertising on TV, while Google is not. At least I dont recall a Google ad on my tv in a long time!
Also, with Bing being a default search engine in the Microsoft operating systems as well, I don’t see why Bing wont continue to chip away at Google’s dominance.
As you know Google came out with their recent Google plus social media site, I believe its a direct cause of Bing partnering up with Facebook for their search results. So Bing is definitely innovating lately!

I definitely agree that Bing should not taken for granted because this Search engine will definitely rise and organic traffic will emerge with these two search engines the big G and bing.
It’s a sure thing Bing is taking market day by day. And for us web people I think it’s good. Just having Google as an independent search giant.
So this is just great news!
The problem with Google is the relevancy of results. Since most people who work online are after of pleasing Google, they do everything just to get the number one spot in Google. Some would actually recommend optimizing the sites with Bing but others continue to stick with Google because of the engine’s benefits. I hope Bing will maintain its quality no matter what, unlike Google.
Many online businesses and entrepreneurs purely focus on their visibility in Google. As a result, they forget to consider other search engines. In the first place, Google has the 1st spot when it comes to usage so why bother others if it can only create a minimal difference in exchange of another set of time and effort. But personally, I think it’s still something that we should try.
