How many of you regularly use Twitter as part of your overall Internet Marketing strategy?
Twitter has taken a lot of heat in recent months as “not being too great for business”, because apparently there are too many spammy users on Twitter now who are using it as a tool for spammy Internet Marketing practices.
Well, as is the case with any business model, if you want to make good use of Twitter, you’re going to have to put in a little more effort than simply looking for followers and building large lists of followers right, left and centre, a practice that 8 out of 10 people are following today, atleast those who think that having a large list of Twitter followers works wonders on any Internet Marketing strategy.
I hate to break it to you, but my list of 20 targeted followers over a year ago could probably produce more sales dollars than your list of 10,000 followers if you haven’t spent time actually finding the right people to keep in your circles, and naturally expand Twitter as an Internet Marketing business for yourself.
One of the great things that the Twitter network is accomplishing for people today, only a few people though, not too many, is it’s ability to provide updates on the “job market”.
Have you ever considered Twitter to be an Internet Marketing source for targeted additions to your niche?
Well, if you have, and you haven’t looked this up yet, then do look into how Twitter can allow you to run a successful “recruitment” business online, or alternatively, serve as a massive source of jobs on the fly if you’re looking to make yourself some money selling your services.
Hundreds of thousands of people are surfing popular job related hashtags on Twitter every day, and accessing even a small fraction of these people could be your way to establishing your first Social-Media Powered Recruitment Business.
You can make this a reality by visiting http://search.twitter.com/
Simply type in a keyphrase that you think someone genuinely looking for a job would type into the search box. For example, search for “looking for ppc manager” as a I do quite often when I’m looking to enlist new PPC clients.
I have to this day gathered over 55 clients from just Twitter, clients whose pay per click Internet Marketing campaigns I’ve been managing since I found them, for almost a year and a half now.
Twitter is that powerful. There are all sorts of people on Twitter, people from just random twitterers to head hunters to job-seekers to job-providers. You can search.twitter.com to search for jobs in the manner I’ve just described, OR you can tweet jobs for others who are looking to hire someone for a specific task and make a commission off referring the lead if there is a deal.
How cool is that? An online recruitment business that involves sending 5 to 6 tweets containing little job adverts on behalf of someone.
How cool is it that every time you search twitter for a job, you will definitely find one to match your interests?
Where else in the Internet Marketing world do you get such opportunity?
Starting to see how Twitter can benefit you in ways you may not have previously thought about? It is really quite simple sometimes to use the simplest of technologies in the simplest of ways to conduct the simplest of businesses to make the simplest of profits.
A web designer could get a new site to build in minutes, a graphic designer a logo in seconds, the possibilities are endless.
I personally have begun using Twitter as an online recruitment tool for my own businesses. You too can do the same. Or you can use it to find jobs for yourself. There are a million and one ideas that you could think of right now and begin finding opportunities for on http://search.twitter.com/ right away.
So give it a shot.
Start thinking differently.
Twitter DOES NOT SUCK, contrary to popular opinion.
And for those that use it like they would a daily classifieds section in the local paper, or the local yellow pages, or a craigslist category, the possibilities for attracting business and making money with Twitter in your Internet Marketing arsenal, are endless.

Hi ALi,
The fact is that, I am not using Twitter for my business and even not using for my personal communication with others just because of my thinking that it has highly polluted with spammers. And I am not able to screen them out.
Twitter no doubt is still one of the most popular social networking sites but I shifted my loyalty to facebook before trying to explore twitter more. Spammers try to make things look more crappy but twitter has some very unique features. May be filtering and unsubscribing are some of the solutions. I’m exploring some latest tools in facebook but Ali, your article has drawn me to twitter again. Thanks for sharing some brilliant points.
I hadn’t read a better post about how Twitter works for IM till today. Now I should find a couple of ways about how to take advantage out of it.
Thanks,
As long as you provide good value information or entertainment to your twitter followers there should be no problems in doing some marketing to them on the side.
