It’s all about the “hoo-haa†to many in the Internet Marketing Industry, all about how great the opportunities are, and how “easy†it is to be successful in this industry.
Well, let me tell you something..
If you’re one of those people who think Internet Marketing is an easy ride, turn around and go find a job because dreaming about success will only delay you in following your path to success – yes, there really is one in Internet Marketing too 😉
Pay attention to “executionâ€, how you’re really going to setup a continuously evolving product or service that will “actually†turn into a business. But let me tell you this now, IT WILL NOT turn into a business overnight, heck, it might even take a few years before you “begin†to see any real financial profits.
Let’s talk about how you can “begin†to pay attention to execution in say Internet Marketing using Facebook..
..only the hottest trend around in the Internet Marketing world these days.
This industry is like any other industry, it requires skill and tactical advantage, and if you don’t make those few “foundational†efforts at getting somewhere in Internet Marketing, you will always just be sitting back to admire the “gurus†you buy things from and pity your own lack of any success thereof.
Facebook, is the hottest new marketing platform to hit the Internet Marketing industry since its very inception. People thought the “internet bubble†had burst and that there was no way in hell that anyone who had joined the race too late for their own good (i.e. recently) was ever going to see success in any shape or form. Facebook has changed that, entirely.
This one monster of an opportunity stronghold has changed the way Internet Marketing is being conducted worldwide. You now have the easiest of access to over 600 Million People on the web, all in little social communities that reside on that very Facebook that you log in to every day to check your Wall or Messages.
Fascinating isn’t it when you think of it that way? 😉
Internet Marketing took a sharp turn a few years ago when Facebook was born..
..and if you use it strategically, you’re looking at an immensely rewarding experience down the line.
Here’s a few things to get you started if you’ve been struggling so far, and I’m pretty sure that if you’ve been struggling and haven’t actually made your first $1000 online, you REALLY need to read and mould your mindset to what I’m saying in the next few sentences.

Don’t be a dreamer. Period.
These self-proclaimed “gurus†have made a mess of the Internet Marketing industry by heightening false promises right, left and centre, making you and many others believe that its just “so darn easy†to make a living on the internet, enough to quit your day-job.
Internet Marketing is and will never be that easy unfortunately.
Follow these few ground rules I’m stating below and apply them to your Internet Marketing efforts on Facebook to start with (since you probably use it quite often I imagine).
1. Setup A Campaign.
Yes. That’s right. Think about a potential audience who you could possibly interest in something or the other – make sure it’s small and not big, whatever it may be – and start chalking out a precise sequence of steps you will take to devise a plan of action that you will then follow religiously in execution.
2. Procure Content for your Campaign
It doesn’t have to be you designing all of it. Think of a few free giveaways you could give your audience, plan and structure how you will create them and then outsource it to a freelancer or team. Having free content is absolutely crucial to getting people’s interest these days, so you MUST have it in your campaign and as a mandatory part of your Internet Marketing strategy.
3. Update Your Content as time goes by.
Yes, don’t just create a free report now for example, and not update it with something new and “recent†say a few weeks or a month down the line. Make sure you’re constantly adding benefits to “having your free stuff†and people will consider you as not only an expert in your field, but more importantly, someone who is “clued up†on the recent goings on. Take Frank Kern’s example, he’s always done exactly this, come up with something new to give his peeps every now and then, not the same old rehashed nonsense that’s floating around a dime a dozen.
4. Track Your Metrics, Religiously and Aggressively.
It’s extremely important that you make every effort possible to “see how you’re doingâ€. Don’t just setup a website, a Facebook Group or Fan Page, put a few things on it for free, post a message or two to its wall every now and then and expect to have any success whatsoever. Use Facebook Insights to constantly monitor your performance, see who’s visiting you, see what they’re clicking on the most, see what’s working and what isn’t, etc.
5. Analyze, Rinse and Repeat.
You must execute steps 1 to 4 all over again every time you sit down to track your metrics as stated in step 4 above. The Internet Marketing industry is a very competitive and constantly evolving place, and you need to make positively sure that you’re keeping up with everything and everyone else. Sit down to re-evaluate your strategy every few weeks and consider changes based on what your metrics tell you. Do this is frequently as possible to avoid disappointment because if you don’t, someone out there will definitely be getting ahead of you very soon 😉
More to come, so stay tuned 😉

Thanks for the post! It’s always good to get back to the basics. I have been working on my Fanpage but it’s not doing that well at present. I am finding it difficult to keep track of all of marketing activities and keep track of facebook and the other social media venues.
Any advice to keep it all straight? Might make a good post for the future.
Thanks!
Keith
The whole concept of web 2.0 is community, so learning kind of has been pushed aside. The only way you will succeed in such a brutal online world is to try everything out yourself and then have your community there to support you. Facebook should be used for community, not to make money – community are the die hard people who will always buy from you, not those who just buy and never come back.
I’m surprised at the number of website owners who think that social networking is NOT important when it comes to Internet Marketing. If you compare it to the brick and mortar world, social marketing is the equivalent to any other method of getting the word out about your business. The biggest difference is, that in the “real world”, you would have to go door to door to get the same benefits. You offer some wonderful tips here that really make sense.
I completely agree with you Ali, that Internet Marketing took a sharp turn with Facebook. This is the age of Internet Marketing, the age of social media. After advertising and marketing through social media I cannot think of any other way and I know most feel it that way too. The news about Facebook coming to an end flashed all over the net, it was a shocking. There are many people who, now, cannot imagine doing business without the help of social networking sites.
Nice post, face book makes a big difference in internet marketing if we compared it with before Face book..nice post
You’re right about not being a dreamer and having to work for it. If it was easy then everybody would be doing it and we’d all be rich. Internet marketing is like any business, you need to have a strategy and you need to work hard.
