Making Money Online From Home Possible? Maybe
Creating wealth from the comfort of your home is a dream that is shared by hundreds of thousands of people. The problem has been and probably will continue to be is that your every day person who is looking to earn a few extra dollars get caught up in the hype of online marketers.
This problem isn’t a new a problem I’ve seen this situation play out a thousand times over the years. I have seen situations where a person totally failed at internet network marketing, however hit a grand slam selling T- shirts. I’ve seen affiliate marketers fail at selling amazon products and kill it selling network marketing products.
From the very beginning of my online marketing adventure I have had my fair share of trials and tribulations. Even now that I make money online I still run into constant snags, error messages, strange coding problems.
Still though, the allure of making money from my home with my computer has caused me to continue forward always seeking to improve my internet marketing skills. So with the rest of this post I want to give you a peek into what a person who makes money online actually does.
Making Money Online – Trying Everything Under The Sun
There are actually people out there who have absolutely no technical skill wanting to make money online. Some fool told them that they can all they have to do is buy X product and boom they will be into profits in no time. Sadly I was one of those people who bought into the illusion. Back in 2003 I got a phone call from a person who got my phone number from a leads broker. I ended up on that persons list because I answered an ad online about how I could turn my free time into extra bucks.
Basically they salesperson convinced me that if I spent $7000 I would get a web site and they would drive traffic to that web site and I would earn commissions. To be honest with you I believed him. Made sense to me, build a website and send thousands of people to it.
There was one problem with this though, nobody wanted what I was selling. Which basically was website that was selling to other people how to be an affiliate marketer. At the time I knew practically nothing about it, other than I could earn money if people bought the products.
Nobody bought anything, I sunk another $2000 in advertising and still nobody bought anything, to be honest I doubt the “company” even got me any traffic at all. That is just one of my stories from a long list of of failures in my online career.
A few years later I got involved with an online network marketing company, Again I spend a large chunk of money only this time I ended up getting sign ups to my network marketing business. It was so easy to do. I just spent money on an advertising co-op and presto my downline was building.
In theory this was very easy to duplicate. In practicality I couldn’t convince 1 person out of 80 to buy into the co-op and do the same thing. I learned something very important that year. 1. I learned that it can be very easy to make sales online. 2. It can be very hard to convince someone else that it’s very easy to make money online.
It was at this point I decided I should actually learn how the hell these people online are really making money. So what did I actually learn?
Making Money Online – Don’t Be The Fool That Follows The Fool
[contextly_sidebar id=”E0U47SvmiusqrDGXqBME4mS8XzWIXfb0″]What drives the home business economy is emotions. Marketers prey on your misfortunes. They talk about visualizing success, they talk about doing what it takes to make it happen. What they never talk about is what it really takes to make it happen.
AT NO COST TO YOU I AM GOING TO TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED TO DO RIGHT NOW TO START MAKING MONEY ONLINE!!!!!!
It’s very simple actually. Stop buying the bull shit. I mean it stop believing shit that is hard to believe. Stop listening to the pretty lady who is driving a porche. Stop listening to the man who is flying in a private jet. These ass holes are making money off of your ignorance.
Here is what it takes….
Let’s assume for a moment that everything boils down to you having a link that you need to get customers to visit. It doesn’t matter what your selling, because no matter what your selling ultimately it comes down to getting a link in front of someone who is ready to pull out their credit card and buy something.
If your going to pay for advertising, I don’t care who says what. Unless you can drop at least $5000 like it’s hot don’t bother spending any money on advertising. You also have to be okay with the idea that you might not get back your investment. You make actually loose every penny of it. Why? Because you need to test your ads, You need to make sure your ad copy is appealing. You need to split test your ads. All of this takes time.
You hear about the success stories you never hear about what it takes to get to that point.
Let’s take a moment and assume you don’t have $5000 to drop on advertising, then you will be looking for all the different free methods of promotion. Like social networking, blogging etc. In order to do free marketing you need to brand yourself as an authority figure in your niche.
If your trying to make money in network marketing and your trying to use free methods alone chances are you will fail big over time. It’s complete bull shit when someone says they built their business using free methods only. There are so many things your not hearing.
Yes you can make really good money without spending a dime if you know what your doing. If you don’t know what you are doing and your competing against people that do you in for a big surprise.
So what skills do you need to learn?
You need to know how to use video marketing, you need to know how to use blogs, you need to know how to buy advertising from places like google adwords, bing, facebook, solo ads, safe list ads and the list goes on. You need to know exactly the hot buttons people want to hear. You need to know how to be come the hunter instead of the hunted.
Are you still interested in making money online?
I haven’t even gotten into figuring out how to build a list or once you build a list how to get people to open up the emails you are sending them. I haven’t talked about how frequent you need to do videos or blog post.
I haven’t gotten into creating engagement in social networks. Nor have I spoken about creating your personal brand.
Some people will tell you that you don’t need a website, you need a product you can simply sell affiliate products… Not to long ago me and my partner jumped on the EBAY Domination bandwagon that was going around.
We actually did $20,000 in sales volume in a little under 2 months. We worked our asses off and dealt with disgruntled customers when they realized they could of bought the same thing cheaper if they did their research.
However, you don’t hear that story do you. You hear how people are making money online without any money. Forget the fact that in order to do so you are screwing someone else. However we tried. It was brilliant to some degree. Find products online and then go to Ebay and sell them at a higher price… It worked people bought, it cost us nothing to do. But we didn’t start a business we bought ourselves a job. I even joked and said if I wanted to do something like this I’d rather go get a job, a lot less headache.
Some EXTRA Hard Truth For You
Most of the people making money online don’t give 2 shits if you make money or not. There are so many people coming online everyday in search of the holy grail that it’s simple mathematics. Nobody is going to actually help you make money. Nobody is going to reveal the secret formula. Because their isn’t one. The fact of the matter is unless you are willing to roll your sleeves up and don’t make any excuses for yourself you will fail.
Making money online is mind over matter. Either you make up your mind to make money online or it doesn’t matter. You must be willing to learn things other won’t. Do things other won’t. You need to face your personal demons. You need believe in yourself and YES you will have to spend long hours in front of your computer..
So I earn a full time income online. I have worked for myself since 2000. I have averaged approximately 40 hours a week every week for over a decade learning the art of online marketing. I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process………
I failed, failed again and when I thought I couldn’t fail anymore I failed again. My victory was the journey not the destination. Even now I work very hard to feed my family. But I love what I do and I wouldn’t change a thing.
So if after reading this making money online is still on your mind. Good for you! Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Just be willing to do things that 90% of the people in the world is unwilling to do. If you can fight the good fight, my friend the rewards are great.
Everyone new to marketing really has to understand their market. Not to simply flood the net with information, but find the right information to the right people at the right time. You are right, Larry and Jamie, these hard truths are things that everyone must understood.
Totally agree with you @oliver pusch, also after having their market understanding they have to be skillfull to achieve something high and for to be productive otherwise they’ll endup working hard. For making money this line fit best to have some great skill to break the wall between the success.

Hi Oliver, it’s a common mistake I think people make. They decide they need a blog because someone else told them it was a good idea to blog.
While blogging is certainly a good idea, before you decide starting you should have a clear plan of action before you begin.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Awesome post mate.
I have been blogging since 3 years and making enough every month and I am really happy with it.
Still I am trying to figure out the aspects of marketing like CPA and affiliate offers and list building. I haven’t been able to learn these things thoroughly and so the learning process is underway.
And failing is the most important part and that’s why I never stop.
The quote from Batman Begins fits perfectly here – “Why do we fall, sir? So that we can pick ourselves up!”
What do you say?
Hi Arbaz, it is good to hear that you are not giving up. That is exactly the mentality you need to achieve greatness!
Keep up the good work.
You know, this is really eye-openning. I like that you tell it how it is out there. I appreciate it. Thank you!

With these some people will do serious blogging.
Hi Pravin, you are correct. For a time there I blogged myself into a corner because I simply have to many blogs…
Here are the other blogs I write in….
http://entershaolin.com
http://theworldofkungfu.com
http://larryrivera.com
I’ve narrowed down to focusing on my martial art stuff. But I am still left with profit on knowledge which I love. I just haven’t had time to really focus over here that much lately.
No worries though, I haven’t given up on this blog 🙂
Larry
What an eye opening post! I am just getting started with a product line and am selling something of true value not ripping off anyone just wanting to do good business. Do you have any other words of wisdom for me such as what and where to learn the right places to start promoting? I am not sure how a blog makes money but I do have brick and mortar ideas I just need to transfer and translate them to the internet would appreciate a honest piece of advice on where to start. Thanks John
Hi John, Say your product line is a widget. I would tell you to start a blog, facebook fanpage, tumblr, twitter. Connect all of them together. So that when you do a blog post about your widget it will get syndicated on those social networks.
It’s important that you visit your social sites and engage with the people that are engaging with your “content”. That’s one approach 🙂
Of course I would need more details like. Are you selling a physical product? Digital product? And what niche it is…
