Sponsor Or Mentor You Choose
I love to share discussions I have with folks online about marketing. Just recently I had a conversation with a good friend about why so many people seem to fail online. I think at the root of the problem is folks pick the wrong type of person to join.
In this article I am going talk about joining a sponsor or mentor. As you will see the two are not the same.
Sponsor or Mentor – The Battle For Supremacy
There is a war going on right now and you might not even be aware of it. There are 2 different types of people both trying to sell you stuff. As you will see if your not careful you could end up joining the wrong person. It’s not your fault because they both look the same from outward appearances.
Both types of people have compelling arguments, however only 1 type will actually care about you. I am going to help you know the difference right away.
The Differences Between a Sponsor or Mentor
A Sponsor: A person or organization that provides funds or support for a project or activity carried out by another, in particular.
- Sells you on the compensation plan
- Makes everything sound easy and push button simple
- Reverse markets
- Cares more about the numbers than the people
- Doesn’t return phone calls/emails
- Sells hype, fluff, flash, smoke, mirrors, dreams
In my humble opinion sponsors are worthless if your a newbie. You will never learn anything from them, but they will pat you on the back and say “good job!”
A Mentor: a wise and trusted counselor or teacher
- Takes the time to explain things so that you understand them
- Cares about you maybe more than you do
- Shares knowledge freely
- Focuses on quality
- Easy To Get A Hold Of
- Builds relationships that last a lifetime
My question to you is, which one of these people would you rather work with: A Sponsor or mentor?

Hi Larry,
Precisely I would choose a Mentor, However you’ve already mentioned that it’s quite difficult to judge between Sponsor and Mentor. But you’ve mentioned valid points to recognize a honest Mentor.
Hi Aasma, I think most folks would choose a mentor over a sponsor. Newbies have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Hopefully this article helps clear that up a bit.
I’ve always wanted a mentor who would genuinely be after my welfare and betterment. Although these two concepts are difficult to define, we must be able to discern if it would be beneficial for us to hire a mentor or a sponsor. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas!
Hi Kristine, I agree with you. I think for the most part.. It’s always worth it to have a mentor it ultimately will always save you more money in the long run.
You definitely hit a spot here. I think I was doing it all wrong before. But now I know, I have to look for a mentor not a sponsor. Thank you!
Hi Emilia, I am glad I could help steer you in the right direction..
If you’d ask me, I’d go for the mentor. They’re just like my wheat and nuts cereal, no additives, it’s all natural. Thank you for posting this, it was very informative.
Your welcome Calra… 🙂

Because mentors are like teachers – they will guide you the right way if you ended yourself up in the wrong path.
