Your Past Doesn’t = Your Future
I was just listening to some training recently the subject was getting stuck in your past. I quickly identified with that because for years I was stuck in my past. It made me feel like I didn’t deserve to have nice things in life. Because I held on tightly to things that happened to me in the past, I wasn’t able for the longest time to have confidence in anything I did.
I always found myself second guessing everything. I was also reminded of a great quote that resonates with me:
“If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” — Lao Tsu
How true is that statement? I imagine for many of us very. Finding that happy balance in life can be difficult at best, especially when there is chaos going on all around you. It is when your mind is calm that you kind find truth in the above quote.
So the question is how can we find peace?
The Key Is Found In Your Past
You can’t move forward in life until you forgive yourself of your past and let go of the past. It sounds simple enough but it can be very difficult to achieve. To often modern civilization turns to anti – depression drugs to help them.
Sadly, I believe these drugs cause more harm than good. I am not a doctor, but logic and common sense tells me there has to be a better way. The past doesn’t exist anymore. But people seem to thrive on bringing it up.
Even in statements like:
Your past is going to come back to bite you in the ass
I think this applies to people that lie, cheat and steal for the rest of us though I don’t believe it applies. So how do we get over the past? How do we break free from depression? For starters you need to surround yourself with positive influences.
This can be personal development audios/books, healthy friendships and supporting family members. To let go of your past you have to talk about your past. If you bottle it up it will fester and become toxic to your soul.
There is only so much your spirit can take, at some point it becomes full and it is at this point you just become depressed. A healthy dose of exercise goes a long way in helping you get over your past.
For the record, if your doing something like say jogging, it takes 25 minutes of just warming up before your body goes to work for you. Getting a runners high is an amazing thing and can do wonders for your health and well being.
Personally I love Tai chi it helps balance the mind, body & spirit. I believe yoga has the same effects, admittedly though I’ve only done a little yoga I prefer the movements of Tai Chi but that’s me.
Fix Your Past And You Fix Your Future
Interestingly, if you let go of your past, your future will naturally fall into place. Why? Because your will be living in your present. It is here and now where you can do the most good. You don’t need to concern yourself with things that are unseen, you simply have to focus on things that are happening right now.
Even you are reading this, you are living in the present moment. Stop for a second and ask yourself is things really that bad in this moment? You will find they aren’t. If you stay in this moment and you continue to stay in this moment you will always be in the present and you will always feel good.
When your living in your past, most times you are stressing over your future. That my friends is a recipe for disaster.
I believe 100% of the people who fail in things like internet network marketing, losing weight etc stem from the fact that their minds are stuck in their past. Because they aren’t able to let go of that past it hold them back from living an amazing, abundant life.
That is sad indeed…
I know there is a really good chance your only reading this blog because somehow and in someway your interested in making money online. Maybe you aren’t making the money you hoped to make. Maybe your confused even where to start.
A good place to start is with you. If your on an emotional roller coaster get off. If you think success has anything to do with luck or education you are wrong. Success has everything to do with your state of being.
If your living in the present and you focus on the present your future will be whatever you decide it to be. Your actions NOW will reflect in your past later. 🙂
