The sad part is that 99% of the time this poverty mindset scourge has been implanted into the subconscious mind by peoples parents, grand parents & great grandparents etc…

Hi Larry,
Up my alley man! Awesome! I am doing OK in this are but can always improve. Clearing out deeply held beliefs about money can be a biatch but hey, freedom awaits on the other side, right? π
Thanks for sharing!
Ryan
Hey brother!
I totally agree with you. I catch myself sometimes saying poverty mindset statements not realizing that I am doing it.
I am more conscious of it now and have been reprogramming my thinking π
Agreed, Larry π
I learned about the importance of mindset through one of the books I read (last year or so). Before that, I didn’t really think about mindsets, although I was already in “growth” mindset (to an extent).
Every time, I try to do something challenges – from exercises to other things, I would assure myself: I won’t give up! Now, I know it isn’t the best mantra to follow. Now, my principle is to ask: Can I do this? Yes, I can!).
It doesn’t matter if we don’t achieve all of our goals, all that matters is that we tried, tried harder and tried our best (some things are just impossible, right? :D).
And we have to enjoy our lives. Is everything about retirement? No, right? What happens if we die before retirement?
If we don’t enjoy our lives, then we need to change. Change our lives, make it more interesting, and make it more enjoyable.
Because the world won’t do it. No one else would do it for you.
Anyways, thanks for the reminder, Larry π Appreciate it!
Hi Jeevan,
If you don’t mind me asking what book was it that you read?
When I do goal setting I start with little goals that build up to bigger goals.
Example: I want to loose 10lbs as a main goal. My first goal would be to drink more water everyday. and then the next week my goal would be to drink more water everyday and park my car at the far end of parking lots.. Etc…
I found by setting small goals and building up to bigger goals I can stay on track better.
Mindset by Carol Dweck π
It’s an excellent book!
I start with bigger goals, and then divide them up into smaller ones π It works best for me.
Agreed.
It helps to stay on track, and to face (and “defeat”) our temptations.
Thanks Jeevan, I’ve never read that one. I’ll check it out π
Thanx for sharing this, econoception. I agree that as individuals we must each take personal responsibility, but I donβt agree with the pieces conclusion that we should concentrate on our own concerns and not give thought to and act upon disequity. As Einstein said, for evil to flourish all that is need is for good men to do nothing. It is a pressing concern, as you say, for many developed nations.
Hey Kuldeep thanks for commenting.
I like Einstein’s quote. I would just like to add that unless your house is built on a solid foundation it’s hard if not impossible to help someone else.
Hi Larry, I think I worry about money, but just around balance in my bank account when it run out because as a woman, if I have no maney at all, it’ll be a big problem π Maybe, people with mindset of lack of managing budget or money is fit for this treatment….
Hi Meisha, your in good company. Many people around the world are constantly worrying about money.
I use to always stress over money, all that stressing never helped me solve my problems. It was when I finally made a decision to do not live that way anymore did I start to take a pro-active stance.
One of the first things a person should do who is worried about money all the time is write down on a piece of paper all of the resources they have available to them.
– Skills
– friends/family
-tools
and so forth. Look at everything you already have and start coming up with a plan of action to get what you are looking for.
Just know that you have within you to do amazing things with your life. We all do. Above all else don’t let your past dictate your future. Your past and future have nothing to do with each other.
It is US who holds on to the past to the point that it is us that is stopping us from moving forward.
Forgive yourself and move forward. Because you can choose to make today better than yesterday and you can choose here and now that money will never cause you grief again.
How you choose to feel about something is totally up to you. Another words, you can choose to stress or you can choose not to stress.
…The power to do either is in your hands

Thanks for sharing Larry, poverty is a serious issue here in our country and I just can’t explain that how much it’s getting worse day by day. Your poverty signs just made me remember one of my family relative and today I realized that why they were facing these signs, at that time me and my family didn’t identify their financial conditions. Feeling sad for them now, I wish I could help them.
poverty mindset is a big issue and we definitely need to snap out of it. it is more like a rogue which don’t allow you do work, u cannot think and nor plan so that you can work hard and come out of flying colors in life. So people its time that you snap out of it! work hard and smart.
Great take on negative mindset Larry. I truly believe that a poverty mindset will always keep you poor. It’s like the law of attraction; what you think you become! I like how you’ve coined the term “Stinking Thinking”, couldn’t have put it better! π
