Facebook.com has proven to be a very useful marketing and advertising tool for starting entrepreneurs. It is the number one social networking site in the world with millions of people logging in every single day.
You can get in touch with friends and other contacts from different cities and countries without any problems. The tools are also available so you can grow your network and continue to let people in on new updates and promos. Business building with Facebook is very effective and efficient. Here are some more guidelines.
Creating Your Account
If you’re not yet a member of Facebook, you should start by signing up. You will be directed to a page where you need to input all the information about yourself. Fill in your name, city or location, birth date, civil status, current job, interests, etc. Some fields can be left blank if you wish to conceal parts of your identity. Make sure you include a profile picture so that you increase your reputation and seem more trustworthy to individuals. If you are building your business, you can also include a picture of your company logo or official motto. Feel free to add company-related pictures.
Rules on Photos
You can upload hundreds of photos on your Facebook account. If you’re building a business, make sure that you separate the photos into albums so that these are easier to browse for visitors. You can create one album for general company pictures, like the photo of your office, the logo, the mission and vision and other related pictures that describes your company. Another album should be allocated for all your offerings. This is the part where you can include photos of all your products and available items. Make sure you label and describe this by filling in the caption bar below. Indicate the type of product, quality, price, and availability.
Adding Friends
Since Facebook is a social networking site, it is very important to add contacts. People prefer to create a business page using their own personal profile so that they can be recognized and confirmed by friends. Your network will grow quicker by getting in touch with family and friends. You can add thousands of friends and contacts. Other people might also want to include you in their own network. Check the notifications tool and confirm people who wish to add you to their friends list. You can ignore invites if not interested.
Settings
Feel free to manage and adjust the settings of your account as you see fit. You can control the people who can view your profile so that only your target customers will be informed about your business and the benefits. Some individuals prefer to create a fan page, aside from their own personal account. Fan pages are great because you can have several people follow you. These individuals will always be updated and informed on recent activities, perks and promos that your business offers. It makes sure that you get in touch with target customers every time. You will serve as the official administrator of the fan or business page.

Facebook is such a great way to build your presence online. I follow so many business, and it’s an easy way to stay updated with them.
I think it’s also important to really have a plan going in to facebook. That way you can be consistent in your updates and look – that way your followers/friends will be able to follow a familiar pattern with you. For instance, ‘tell it like it is Mondays’ – or something of the like. It creates a reasons for followers to go to your page instead of just wait for updates in the home feed.

Very useful advices, thanks for sharing them! They could help me to reach my newest goals, actually my resolution for the new year was to increase the traffic to my blog, and I think these social media methods are the best and most effective ways to that.
Facebook is a wonderful tool but it needs a lot of time to become effective. I mean you have to slowly work on it, day by day.
Any of you has other ideas for tools that are faster?
Hi Manuel, I know some hot shot marketers who have a lot of success with facebook, without getting to personally involved. The key is to create a community that is holding high standards.
I love this post; it will be of tremendous help when I finally get around to building my FB fan page. No excuses now! Thou its becomming harder and harder for small-time developers to write truly useful Facebook apps. All the focus and press seems to be on the big-time apps, like Farmville and Mafia Wars, but with those apps spamming the system and Facebook constantly further limiting the API’s to prevent it. So they both cater to those apps in a way, but also limit every developer on the Facebook platform as a result.
Hi Mika, I was caught up in Mafia Wars for a minute. I think all those small games are time sinks… When using Facebook for business. You need to have tunnel vision. Distractions can really slow you down 🙂
That true as F.B. is one of the top most popular S.N. with approx 800 millions logins each day so this would be the most powerful way to start business and also promote to all universal folks.
Anyway thanks a lot for sharing such a interesting and important post.
You are most welcomed 🙂
Many businesses started to make their own FACEBOOK account. In this way, they could easily reach their target market. In this way, they would be able to communicate with their targeted clients or customers to earn more profits.
That’s the plan Stan! 🙂
I used to think that creating and maintaining a Facebook business page is easy and you don’t really need to plan or strategizing. Before, I never understood why people had to take crash courses on Facebook and Twitter management. But eventually, I came to realize the wonders that social media can do to a business. With a good marketing plan, social media can help build a good online reputation for you and your business.
facebook is a great tool you can use in your business and in marketing. Since it’s a huge community with registered online users and you can also interact with them via chatting. When it comes to pictures you can name the album and syndicate them properly to avoid confusions. And also add some description to remind you of something that happened when the picture was taken.
Yup Facebook has become a great social media network both socially and economically …there are large number of users joining in the network day by day and it is proven Facebook is the best social network among all..
little by little facebook become a tool for advertising and business instead of social networking that coul help to stay in touch with friends and relatives. But it has its own advantages in starting up some business or getting profits and that it shows the changes in modern society
