Paid Social Networks – Do They Really Pay?

Paid Social Networking – There Is A Place For Everyone

Is the hype around paid social networks all it’s cracked up to be? First came sites like  Facebook, Twitter etc . These types of sites got people talking to each other. They are free to join you can set up profiles and attract people to your business. In some cases you can even get a date, although I think that is a bit creepy.

For a long time people have been populating those sites with keyword rich content helping those social networks enjoy tons of traffic. In fact most people use those sites and contribute to the income of those sites without attaining and financial rewards at all. They do it for the sheer joy of social networking.

After realizing the profit pulling power of these sites, people started creating paid social networks to cash in on the craze.  It got me wondering for sure, so I joined a few paid social  networks to see what all the fuss was about.

Paid Social Networks – Talk About A Targeted Market

While I don’t think these types of sites are for everyone, they are for a person who likes to make connections and build relationships through social networking.  You are always hearing about how powerful social networks are, this is only true if you are the type of person who likes to attract attention. Just like in the offline world if you don’t like to be noticed you won’t be.

Out of the few paid social networks I joined, there is only 1 that I continue to be a member of.  It is called Swom (Super Word Of Mouth) what you will find is a membership well over 90,000 people all of whom are interested in online home business, network marketing, internet marketing etc..

Targeted Group Of People Who Are:

  • Successful online entrepreneurs
  • Looking for someone to help them become successful online entrepreneurs

I wish there were sites like this 5 years ago, if internet network marketing is your thing you definitely want to at the very least join Swom for as a free member and start networking with fellow network marketers.

Paid Social Networks – Were The Real Opportunity Is

While you can earn commissions as a paid member of Swom you don’t actually have to be a paid member to really benefit from the social network. Of course you can’t participate in the referral program if you are not an upgraded member, however you can absolutely find targeted prospects for your business opportunity within the community.

I have been an upgraded member for several months and have made affiliate commissions as a result. The reason why is because as an upgraded member you gain access to what is called the Open University and it is here that you can share your marketing expertise. Seriously my friends there are many many people in swom who I would consider super noobies, it is a great place to find folks who are dying to find someone of value to work with. If you are the type of person who really likes to help other people you will do well in swom.

I can honestly tell you that I don’t like most paid social networks, mostly because they really are based on to much hype. If you are interested in the paid social networks scene, I recommend going with swom they offer real value and since I have been a member I have seen many positive improvements to the site.  This is not a mlm scheme or anything like that. It is just a social network that caters to online marketers pretty cool if you ask me.

Paid social network sites; I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. Actually, I’m more envious that I didn’t think of it first, lol.

So Swom has a free version as well as an upgraded paid version? Do you think these sites will be growing to really compete with the free sites like Facebook and Twitter? And do you thin that either FB or Twitter would move to paid memberships as a result?

Yes Swom has both free and paid memberships.

Do you think these sites will be growing to really compete with the free sites like Facebook and Twitter?

I actually think paid social networks are better for businesses that are network marketing businesses in nature. While I love facebook and twitter, they are great for social proof but I have several hundred people on my facebook alone that do nothing but spam their business opportunity. In places like swom the people their may actually be interested where as in facebook, I have friends who I know could care less in many cases including me.

And do you thin that either FB or Twitter would move to paid memberships as a result?

No I don’t because lots of people are cheap! lols. Another thing about paid social networks is the fact that if the person there is willing to spend money for a social network service, you know they are already pre-qualified as a person who will invest in their business. Where as on facebook, how many times have you talked to someone who couldn’t believe that had to spend x,y,z a month to be in business.

I have found that the majority of people who are always looking for free stuff end up being tire kickers and procrastinators. In network marketing you need people to go out there and invest in themselves and their businesses. So places like swom you stand a good chance at finding the right person for your business.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂

    Hey Larry,
I have joined SWOM as free member and I will decide to be a paid member after checking its features as a social network. It can be used to make some money by referral program.

Heck Larry, I’m not even a fan of the free ones so I can’t see myself paying to join one. Also wouldn’t the members all be pushing their own wares?

Hey Bud good to see ya! You know something I use to not like facebook or twitter mostly because I can’t stand the spam.

At first the thought was I was going to use my account for business, that was until I seen most of my high school graduation class on there and I found friends on there that I haven’t seen in 20 years because they moved to different states etc..

At first that made me not want to use facebook at all for any type of marketing.
But something funny happened I didn’t expect: I only personally know about 150 people on their. I maybe invited another 100 myself. I have over 1200 friends.

I really don’t sit in front of Facebook ever. I check out whats going on my cell phone. Facebooking is entertaining when you have a few minutes to kill. It’s a fun way to stay in touch with family. So I like it, but other than my facebook fanpages and mentioning or liking blog post I don’t market on there.

Facebook is purely for entertainment value and social proof for me. While spam is annoying, it is what it is.

You are correct , everyone in Swom is trying to sell something. But as we know the real failure rate online is at least 94% or more. That is across the board.

The fact is most people who are trying to make money online never really achieve anything substantial or meaningful. They just end up spending more money and wasting more time.

For marketers that sincerely want to help people by providing real personal value. Then Swom is a gold mine of opportunity.

The only thing is swom is niche specific. It is only a good social network for a person interested internet network marketing. From what I have seen the majority of folks that join swom are network marketing people. I also noticed that there are more people looking for help than giving help. *Real Help

Thanks for expanding on the post Larry. I don’t really consider myself an internet marketer but if I ever decide to go that route I will be sure to give them a go.
