I agree with your assertion that this methods have a long way to go. Also, in my personal experience, I found that the substition of “normal” marketing campaigns for online marketing, specifically social media campaigns can sometimes fail if they do not fully understand what social media is all about and thus do not realize a great integrative campaign. Thus the consequences for a business can be severe. Personally, I would rather advise clients to add social media campaigns to their overall strategy.
