Twitter has become so saturated with spammers and scammers over the past year or so that really learning how to use Twitter with the intention of converting some of the traffic it sends has become a false hope.
Enter the #internetmarketing hastag into search.twitter.com for instance, and you’ll immediately see what I mean. Spammers galore. Everyone and their grandmother is apparently an Information Marketing genius these days 😉
Infact, come to think of it, the learning how to use twitter to promote an Internet Marketing campaign is probably one of the most difficult things you will ever do.
Internet Marketing isn’t the right niche to be learning how to use Twitter in, at all.
Even the experts are backing out one by one, day after day, night after night, because the influx of spam producing twitter users has made learning how to use twitter for core Internet Marketing, the most difficult effort of the century.
I don’t understand why everyone in the Internet Marketing niche on Twitter is “teaching” rehashed goods 🙂 It’s immature to say the least. None of these folks have ever had any formal marketing training, probably never launched a product of their own, probably never managed a project from start to finish, and most overwhelmingly, never actually benefited from anything they’re tweeting preachings for right, left and centre.

Learning how to use Twitter for business is possible.
But with the overwhelming concentration of spammers in certain niche markets like “weight loss” and “internet marketing”, it’s really quite hard at present, to accumulate a proper following of Twitter users who are “actually” following you for the content you provide, and not “just following back”. Unfortunately for everyone, it is a lot harder now to get the “right kind” of attention these days on Twitter, because almost everyone who follows you right off the bat is using a bot or some other automated means (or not) to find you because you happened to mention a keyword of their liking in your tweets or bio. That’s not grounds for following someone, that’s a joke 😉
To really learn how to use Twitter for your business, you need to make your way to an extremely powerful feature present in Twitter, and available to everyone for free, and that’s Advanced Twitter Search at http://search.twitter.com/
Using Advanced Twitter Search, you can super target the people who you want to follow because you think they are worth having on as “followers” later on. Don’t just follow everyone because they are “in your niche”. Follow people who have certain characteristics in addition to being “in your niche”.
For example, are they being followed by more people than they are following themselves? Are they listed on other twitter users’ lists? Do they have multiple mentions on Twitter by other users?
It’s questions like these that you can answer extremely easily with Advanced Twitter Search and accumulate a following of “proper” Twitter users. This is by far one of the most sure-shot ways of learning how to use Twitter for business and branding.
Give it a shot 😉

It is becoming hard day by day to get rid from the spammer but people like you are doing a wonderful and appreciable job to educate people to protect their online activities from these spammers.
Headlines need to be very grabby in Twitter to get attention. I only follow 40 or so users and it is still a hosepipe. It amazes me how poor some Twitterers marketing tweets are using the same tweets over and over and using mundane terms that just don’t get your attention enough.
