Today I am going to talk to you about something that has been bothering me for awhile.  At this point in time it is no secret that you absolutely need a blog if you want to make money online regardless of the niche you are in. But it is like you have to twist peoples arm to get them to realize this.

For the record,

You need to already have a healthy marketing budget if you want to make money online without a blog. For the rest of us a blog is absolutely needed. This is especially true in Network Marketing, blogs are with out a doubt the single most important tool you can have for your business.  It doesn’t even matter where you are at in your business a blog can absolutely increase your sign up rate and also help you earn more commissions on other affiliate products.

Tip: Did you know that blogs get indexed faster than regular websites!

Successful blogging isn’t about you just coming up with your own content, it is also about you finding content that your readers want to read.  There are many sources online that make it easy to find content to add to your blog.  Here are some great places to find content.

Social networks have become very popular among marketers. That is because dollar for dollar it is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get traffic to your website.  I have been doing a bunch of research lately and have been watching what actually goes on in these social networks and I have seen a disturbing trend.  With all the good information online how to be a good social marketer many people are still doing it wrong.

Steps To Setup Your Social Networking Empire

If you are a total newbie online start with step 1.

Step 1. Join Swom , FaceBook and Twitter. You can join all three for free.  It is through these three networks that you will be able to build a huge following quickly. If you have no followers right now that’s okay you are going to have to work hard for the next 3 months to gain followers.

This is where many people go wrong, they start to try and promote their businesses without having a following. You should spend the next 3 months just focusing your efforts on adding more and more contacts.

Next you need a story! There is a popular term coined called “My Story Marketing” , the best way to tell your story is through blogging.  For this post I am not going to get into which blogging plate form to use *cough WordPress. The reality is you can use any blogging plate form, if you just starting out use blogger, it’s very newbie friendly.

While you are spending most of your time adding contacts to your social networks, start blogging about you. Start telling people why you are marketing online. Start sharing your story…

After you have some post on your blog like 15 or 20

Now you can start thinking about starting your social networking campaign.  We are always in a rush, notice I am ending this post with only 1 step. Really stop for a moment clear your mind and ask yourself this question.

Do you want to get tons of free traffic? It is very easy to get caught up with information overload.  I won’t lie to you it will be a lot of work to just get lots of contacts and get your blog set up.  There is certainly a ton of information on how to effectively use social networking sites online.  Focus 100% of your effort right now on just building up your following and your blog.

Social proof is a good thing. It will help you make more sales. While you are building your blog and adding contacts consider making some youtube videos of yourself.  Blogging+video compliments social marketing and it is the best way to apply attraction marketing principles.  The best part of social marketing is the fact that you can do it entirely for free.  Think about it!

The worse thing you can do is have a autoresponder series that runs for 30 days and all you are doing is promoting the same business over and over and over and over …. AND OVER!  Don’t you think after the 3rd no the person isn’t interested?

Whatever your business is if you want a person to join it —> Get them to want to join YOU!

If you want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone provide solutions to the people you are marketing too.  If fact don’t sell anything all. Selling is the worse thing to do, nobody likes being sold, HOWEVER people love to buy. We buy stuff all the time.

The best thing you can do is learn valuable internet marketing skills and teach them to others..

The failure rate for people wanting to come online and make money is around 95% what this means is most people have no idea what to do.  While everyone is lost and confused trying to “sell” a business they really could care less about, why not teach these people the skills that are required to be successful?

To tell you the truth it took being disgusted at how hard it was to get leads to join my business. I advertised everywhere and spent a fortune and would only get 5 or 6 leads a day.  That wasn’t very productive and boy was I thick headed. It sucks spending $60 for a solo ad and only getting 3 opt ins and no sign ups…

I went to the same place bought another $60 ad –> instead of trying to sell my business, I decided to make a lead capture page giving a person a report on how to use twitter for free… I got 42 opt ins….

I later offered more free reports with some upsells… (everything I offered the person was to help them get educated on how to get more traffic to their websites) I was helping them solve their problems.. In my P.S statement at the bottom I just shared with them what I was personally doing.

I made more money than I would have if I tried to get all 42 people into my business that most of them weren’t interested in. I also got a couple of people into one of the businesses I am involved with.

It is a win/win situation – I got people into my business and I made money from people that weren’t interested in my business.  More importantly than that I gained their trust and provided real value to them.

I don’t think this topic is stressed enough online. Most of us don’t actually have any physical products we sell.  We are basically affiliate marketers. Good affiliate marketers already know that the money is in the “pre-sale” not the actual sale.  People buy based on recommendations that they get. You see this everyday, more than likely you purchased products already based on a recommendation.

Using your blog to review programs is a great way to presell also using services like squidoo and hubpages is another avenue to  presell what you are doing.
