Which WordPress Theme Is Right For YOU!
Source: blogvkp.com via Larry on Pinterest
I have been full circle when it comes to using wordpress themes. I started out with the free themes over the years I tried so many different ones I lost count. While there are free themes that look great. It has been my experience that compared to premium themes they aren’t that great.
Free themes generally have poor seo options and limited customization features. Now if you are just blogging for the love of blogging and you have no real intent on turning your blog into a money sucking machine then free themes work just peachy.
WordPress is the best but only if you self host it
There are to many restrictions in using free wordpress, you really need to self host your own blog to have total freedom. Anyhow back on the topic of themes. At the time of this writing this blog is using a thesis theme. I like thesis because they make customizing your theme a snap. Only after you figure out how to install the theme to begin with. Thesis is the only theme I know of where you have to manually make changes in the installation files. That might put off some newbies.
I also use Studiopress themes on a few of my sites, whilst I believe you get more detailed control over your theme with thesis, in terms of ease of use and general cleanness of site, studiopress wins. At least in my opinion..
…But let’s talk about my love affair with Thesis Themes. WordPress makes it extremely easy to switch themes. So I am surprised it has taken me this long to finally make a decision to move away from thesis. But I finally decided that thesis is just to much of a pain in the ass to keep using. Just the other day, I upgraded a plugin that caused my theme to start having issues. Thank goodness it was only a plugin , but I think it was the final straw for me. Since I first started using thesis it has been one problem after another problem trying to get different plugins to work right. I kept using it because of all the cool seo features. Sometimes though if something is causing you to much of a headache it’s time to move on.
Now it’s not a matter of should I leave thesis, rather when…
WordPress and Optimizepress
So why am I talking about optimizepress, well depending on your goals you may need a wordpress theme that is multi – functional. A complete marketer makes their own lead capture pages among other things. Themes like optimizepress allows you to do that and more with your wordpress theme.
I haven’t bought it yet, but after doing some research it looks like the theme I will be using for another one of my sites.
Here’s The Take Home Message:
If your using a free blog, your lame 🙂 it cost like $ 7 a month, the only people who should use free blogs are people who are doing non-profit stuff. All the rest of you need to suck it up and get your own blog.
Also… You should really use a premium theme they all have their pro’s and con’s, I love thesis but it is far from newbie friendly, you have been warned. Studiopress has lots of plugins that let you use what are called “hooks” very easy to learn how to use and allows for lots of customization.
There are more themes out there but Thesis and Studiopress are the most used by professional marketers. If want to use your blog to also make lead capture pages and marketing funnel consider using something like Optimizepress.
The way to market in today’s online market place. If your not blogging on some level your probably not making much money. OR you are spending a small fortune to make your money.
Blogging is a way to cut down the cost of advertising, while branding yourself. WordPress is the best blog platform to use. All others pale in comparison. With that said I say save yourself the headache all together and just start blogging on an empower network blog 🙂 <– I couldn’t resist the plug, the company just pays me so much money I feel compelled to always mention it…
P.S. If your like me you tired of doing things the hard way. You just wanna do something that works. (I started doing something different and it’s working just get in and I’ll show you)
….WELL you can’t fool 36,000+ paid member’s can you ?

Hi Larry,
Yes – I do agree. The large amount of themes (and plugins for that matter) is one of the advantages of WordPress – whilst being a disadvantage as it creates confusion amongst some of the not so techno savvy users.
Hi Anton, your right it can be very confusing and it can be complicated to get the themes to work correctly.
Newbies should realize that in many cases professional themes are best designed by professionals.
I like this type of sounds.Themes give us some helpful info which are good for our works. WordPress is good and i am using this from long time but i am not clear on your point which are indicating about hosting.
Hi Bhushan, I am not sure I am understanding what you mean?
Hi Larry,
The idea of using WordPress for free i guess can provide a good layout to express what one got if he/she is new to the blogging but its free so having a paid theme will provide much more exposure than the free version.Once a blogger starts making money he can try using the paid themes to get more out of what he got.
It is a great platform to launch blogs and the best part is it is SEO friendly.
Hi Aditya,
I think for a person to be taken seriously to begin with they need to be blogging on a premium theme.
If your blogging for business, you need to treat your blog like it’s part of your business. If your trying to cut cost where talking about 4 to 10 dollars a month investment.
If that is to much money for a person, I don’t even know what to say about that.
Ha Ha Ha 🙂 You don’t have to say anything about that Larry.I guess one who don’t know the fact that first we have to spend something and then get the worth out of it.Nothing can be taken as granted when business is the soul purpose.
